Dear Readers,
Greetings, and thank you for stopping by “Awake!” Before I jump into writing about everything that I hope to, I want to take a moment to give you a bit of background about myself and why I’m here.
I am a 33-year old American woman and I live in New York City. I have been busy reading and writing for as far back as I can remember, and majored in French and English literature. I’ve made choices and compromises since I set out on my own, and I’ve so far spent my working years at office jobs that I’ve had very mixed feelings about. I know I have plenty of company.
And for all these years, I’ve been wanting to do some more writing. I miss it, and I do write quite a lot, but never in a forum that I could share with the public. I’ve also spent many late nights talking to friends and loved ones about topics that have grown increasingly important to me: Where we get our food, how we grow it, and how that impacts our health; Overconsumption; Planned Obsolescence; Garbage. I am always trying to find a way to live my life in accordance to my principles without driving myself completely insane in the process. And so I’ve decided, while somewhat shyly stepping out into the Blogosphere, that my blog will center around this very topic: how to live a sustainable, ethical lifestyle, and thoroughly enjoy oneself as well. I’ve titled the blog “Awake” as a reflection of my belief in living life with your eyes open: both to the changing world around you, and to your own motivations, hopes and desires. Please join me on this journey!
